I would LOVE a level maker/editor. This game seems perfect for that kind of thing. I haven't beaten the first challenge level yet, but I love it so far.
Agreed. My one regret making this game is not adding a level editor. Just Jump 2 will most definitely have one, I consider that a must-add feature no matter how much work it takes.
I wish there were hints for some of the hidden signs, or at least indications on how to get them. Often while trying to get hidden signs I have not yet found, the solution was hidden blocks with little indication. However, despite those few hidden signs, the mechanic is usually done well. Good job overall.👍
I tried to have hints/indicators for all of the hidden signs. There might be a few that I didn't do a great job with. For example, the level 2 hidden sign used to be MUCH harder to get, involving extremely precise wall jumping that wasn't even obvious in the first place (you still can get the sign this way, but I'm guessing most people don't). I added the 'hidden block' way to get it as a result, which, to be fair, isn't super intuitive. I think my thought process for that was to have a small area that seemed empty/pointless, thus it made sense to test the walls for potential secrets.
That mechanic can be dangerous though, because I didn't want to create a game that just had a bunch of random false walls or invisible blocks that you need to find, because that can get tedious and frustrating, so I tried to avoid that as much as possible.
Glad you like the game, and thanks for the comment! :)
I knew SOME people would find that sign, but there aren't really any clues leading to it, like most of the other signs. I just figured it would be fun to add a rare easter egg for people that really go out of their way to explore everywhere.
I have a unique kind of hatred in my heart for level 22. every segment made me want to tear my hair out. The only thing that kept me going was knowing that if I quit I would have to start from the beginning later. I will inevitably go back because I need to get the bonus sign and I dread that day.
Overall a great game 10/10 despite my occasional rage. The platforming is great, the difficulty curve feels natural, and the signs add some wit! I will return to play now,
Glad you like/hate it lol! There are a few levels that if I could go back through and rework, I would. This was my first 'full' game that I ever released, and I've definitely learned a lot from it. I'm hoping Just Jump 2 has less frustrating moments, while still being challenging.
Update: I've been playing bit by bit in my spare time. I went back and got the hidden sign for level 22. It was not nearly as bad the second time (I had fun actually) and I feel a tad embarrassed for being so dramatic. Still a great game.
You can make it with a well-timed jump (the window is admittedly quite small). You can also wall jump off the wall to the right of the next checkpoint, and carry your horizontal speed over to the gap with some well timed jumps. This makes the jump much easier.
Yeah, in retrospect I probably should have made it slightly easier. My thinking was it's "extra" content not required to progress, so it's okay to make it difficult to get.
But yeah, maybe currently it's a bit tougher to get to than I would like.
Not intended. But cool that you figured out how to do that! Can't believe I overlooked that when designing the level.
I like when games have 'exploits' like that. Its fun when a game rewards you for thinking outside of the box. For example, level 10 has a HUGE exploit/shortcut you can use to skip almost the entire level. And there are probably more out there I don't even know about!
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it! And thank you for the nice comment! I think I ended up shutting down the Discord channel because of inactivity. If I make a new one I'll reply to this comment and let you know. The game does have a lot more players now than it did then, so maybe there would be more interest in a Discord channel again.
Is this something you would want to make, and I can post the link to it here? I just don't think the game is popular enough to have many people joining a Discord. Couldn't hurt to try though.
Not intended! But really cool that people are finding shortcuts that I didn't know existed.
Another example of this is level 3. Everyone has all these really low times, and I have no idea how! There must be some shortcut I STILL cant figure out. I even went and looked at the level editor to try to figure out where people are saving all this time, and I can't find it.
I think its really cool that there are enough people playing the game and that the levels are 'open' enough that people are still finding new ways to beat some levels.
Haha. Yeah, its pretty easy to manipulate the save file if you download the game. It's happened a few times, every now and then I go and purge those off the leaderboard... Thanks for the reminder lol.
The control block was really wonky to get working in development, so I'm not surprised a few of these things snuck through the cracks. None of them are game-breaking thankfully. That I know of anyways...
Haha! Getting those sliding tiles to properly interact with each other was a pain... There's still probably some small issues (like what you experienced), but shouldn't be anything game breaking.
This game deserves a lot more attention than it's getting. I can't find any playthroughs of it on anything but the developers' channel. It's a great game and I can't wait to see what else comes out!
Thanks for the comment! Also I appreciate the feedback about the final level. It's hard to judge how challenging a level is when making a game. Congrats on beating all 25 base levels, that's awesome!
Having a reall fun time with this one. Starts out simple but really pulls you in with the different mechanics. Reminds me alot of earlier flash games but much smoother and deeper than those were. Recommended for sure.

I adore the little details! I love annoying the signs in the tutorial level especially <33 awesome game!! I'll keep replaying it for sure.

Thank you so much, glad you're having fun!

WHY ISNT THIS THE HIDDEN SIGN!!11?//?!1
Well thanks for the compliment ig
Love the game BTW

I found that sign but not the actual hidden sign for that level...
There might be something below the goal? ;)

this game give me memorys, it is time to restart and relive my past life...
Yep, time for another playthrough!
how do you get the level 3 hidden sign?
At the top of the level near the end, you need to jump up onto and off of the circular fixture with the 3 rotating lasers. The fixture itself is safe.
This is like the K levels in "Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze"; unfair, but fun!
nice game :)
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it. Even little comments like this make my day! :)
glad to hear! :)
hmmm i wonder how i going to make this? 24 lvl 2 spike crash into you thing idk how to make it
LVL 18 IS IMPOSSIBLE
RPGROYOGBGOR ;)
nvm i pass it (it is my brain trying to figure out do a circle fix in a square)
nice coding red,purple,green,orange,yellow,orange,green,blue,green,orange,red
i wish you can a make a another game like this but more harder
Have you played through all the challenge levels? Those are much more difficult than the base levels.
yes,but i want something more challenging
too hard >:(
How am I supposed to get L17 hidden sign? Idk if I'm just not going about it right or if you're supposed to try and jump that gap
edit: the part where you get the checkpoint and you can see the sign
You can make it with a well-timed jump (the window is admittedly quite small). You can also wall jump off the wall to the right of the next checkpoint, and carry your horizontal speed over to the gap with some well timed jumps. This makes the jump much easier.
I DID IT!!! Now I can do level 25 challenge mode
:D
Why didnt I get anything from levl 16 secret????
Once you beat all 25 levels, getting the secret signs will unlock "challenge" versions of the levels, starting from level 1.
Level 2's hidden sign is damn hard to get I gave up after like twenty minutes of trying to do it.
Yeah, in retrospect I probably should have made it slightly easier. My thinking was it's "extra" content not required to progress, so it's okay to make it difficult to get.
But yeah, maybe currently it's a bit tougher to get to than I would like.
Level 18 is so annoying i don’t like how the jump out of the orange button is so annoying i basically can’t beat the level
I wonder if it is possible to beat just jump without wall jumping...
someone needs to try that
I'll create a golden ball skin just for you if you find a way to do that.
How do you get past the L shape on level 25 with the cannon?
I've been trying for a while and can't figure it out.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Shoot just to the left of the spikes, and continue to hold right after you shoot.
Thanks
On level eight is it intended to take the second cube to the end and use it to cheese?
Not intended. But cool that you figured out how to do that! Can't believe I overlooked that when designing the level.
I like when games have 'exploits' like that. Its fun when a game rewards you for thinking outside of the box. For example, level 10 has a HUGE exploit/shortcut you can use to skip almost the entire level. And there are probably more out there I don't even know about!
am I allowed to advertize this game in a random slideshow I am making for a school project?
Of course!
You're awesome.
your both awesom
oh i found a glitch
if you get to level's 16 hidden sign and do a wall jump from blue orb you can just fall down forever bcuz there's no death or camera trigger
I'll check this out, thank you
bruh this game is 10/10
idk why but im playing this for 5h straight
also i beat your record on level 10 by 1 sec :)
and discord link is expired, can i get a new one please?
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it! And thank you for the nice comment! I think I ended up shutting down the Discord channel because of inactivity. If I make a new one I'll reply to this comment and let you know. The game does have a lot more players now than it did then, so maybe there would be more interest in a Discord channel again.
yeah I think you should create a Discord server
because this game is similar to Red Ball series but has a better potential
and it's speedrun-based so you can discover new tricks and shortcuts (like I did on lvl 10) and discuss them
(im not sure that you need help with Discord server, but if you need: mate108#9949)
Is this something you would want to make, and I can post the link to it here? I just don't think the game is popular enough to have many people joining a Discord. Couldn't hurt to try though.
Is skipping half the map an intended shortcut on challenge level 21: Spiderball?
Not intended! But really cool that people are finding shortcuts that I didn't know existed.
Another example of this is level 3. Everyone has all these really low times, and I have no idea how! There must be some shortcut I STILL cant figure out. I even went and looked at the level editor to try to figure out where people are saving all this time, and I can't find it.
I think its really cool that there are enough people playing the game and that the levels are 'open' enough that people are still finding new ways to beat some levels.
i think level 3 is timing-based level (on the ending)
my main objective in this game is getting top 1 on something
bruh
Uh... I definitely broke the game
Hy TommyDog
WOW WAT
Haha. Yeah, its pretty easy to manipulate the save file if you download the game. It's happened a few times, every now and then I go and purge those off the leaderboard... Thanks for the reminder lol.
I don't believe we manipulated the save file, it was more of "spamming" the reset button
Interesting! Thanks for letting me know.
Yeah that wasn't manipulation of save data, this was all in the browser by spamming backspace in a level
I think I optimised the Tutorial a bit too much...
Best level :))
Hi Xephia
Hihi
Nice! I was wondering when someone would beat my time on that one.
yeah but i beat it anyways :))
no collsion
you can ride two blocks at once
Hi lifewrath
The control block was really wonky to get working in development, so I'm not surprised a few of these things snuck through the cracks. None of them are game-breaking thankfully. That I know of anyways...
uh... i might have broken the game
Haha! Getting those sliding tiles to properly interact with each other was a pain... There's still probably some small issues (like what you experienced), but shouldn't be anything game breaking.
gotta love games with leaderboards am i right?
Agreed! Especially in a smaller indie game like this, it's fun to try for a top 10 spot.
Thanks for the comment and for playing. :)
Hi, I just finished making this game, I was wondering if you could try it out and tell me if you find any bugs! Let me know.
https://kenbodev.itch.io/jump-the-island
I got top 10 on level 6!
I like how you don't have to wait 500 years for tutorial to end.
this is a great great game. but there aren't that many people who have seen it.
so I will advertise it cuz it needs more views. thanks, unsteady yeti for this great game.
Thanks, suckmydong! Glad you enjoy the game. :)
no prob I am just glad that you made this.
THIS IS AWESOME best game ever I ever played theres limited things you can do with 2d but its still is a very good game
This game deserves a lot more attention than it's getting. I can't find any playthroughs of it on anything but the developers' channel. It's a great game and I can't wait to see what else comes out!
This comment made my day, thank you!
I fully agree
hard game. nice game
:)
Hi I had a very fun time, though the last level is a bit frustrating but I think I am just a winy baby
Thanks for the comment! Also I appreciate the feedback about the final level. It's hard to judge how challenging a level is when making a game. Congrats on beating all 25 base levels, that's awesome!
Its a fun game!
Thanks Vida, I appreciate the comment!

Thanks for the comment dwhizzle! Glad you would recommend the game, looking forward to competing with you on the leaderboards.
Super fun game with creative maps and leaderboards!! 100% recommend to anyone who's thinking about trying out. A+ banger by unsteady yeti games.
Thanks glockman! I put a lot of work into designing fun, yet challenging levels. Glad you're enjoying the game!
